Is there still a market for smaller iPhones? I personally think there is but we won’t know for sure until Apple releases another four-inch iPhone. It turns out that we may the answer sooner than later, as MacRumors flags a report from Chinese website MyDrivers that suggests a four-inch iPhone 6c will release this coming spring.

MyDrivers notes that a carrier roadmap recently unveiled by Chinese carrier China Mobile shows that a smaller iPhone tentatively called the “iPhone 7c” will launch in April. As MacRumors notes, it’s unlikely that Apple will call the device the “7c” since it hasn’t even released the iPhone 7 yet, thus making “iPhone 6c” the most likely name.
Earlier this month, 9to5Mac‘s Mark Gurman reported that Apple is planning to have a major press event in March in which it will show off its second-generation Apple Watch and possibly its iPhone 6c. Other earlier reports have revealed that the iPhone 6c will feature a four-inch display like the iPhone 5c but that it will also feature a metal build and not a plastic one. It does seem that the iPhone 6c will have more color options than the regular line of flagship iPhones, however.
At any rate, this latest leak lines up with the timing outlined in Gurman’s report, although it’s apparently still up in the air whether Apple will release this new device at around the same time as the next-generation Apple Watch.
