Samsung finally unveiled the Galaxy S smartphone fans have been waiting for, and created two different versions of it, including the regular Galaxy S6 and a curved Galaxy S6 edge. The devices are, in many ways, very different from any of the previous Galaxy S phones Samsung has launched, especially when it comes to design and build quality.
Mobile Madhouse has created a neat infographic that shows in brief the history of the Galaxy S line, from Samsung’s first Galaxy S model released in 2010 all the way down to the current Galaxy S6 family.

As the infographic reveals, Samsung has constantly bumped up specs for its Galaxy S models, making screen size, resolution, processor and megapixels key marketing elements for these devices, in its fight against the iPhone.
Design-wise, the Galaxy S family evolved from iPhone lookalikes, especially the first two Galaxy S generations that got Samsung into legal trouble with Apple, to curvier models including the Galaxy S3, S4 and S5. That said, the later versions didn’t quite deliver what fans would have expected.
Ironically, Samsung needed to take inspiration from the iPhone once again with the Galaxy S6, which has been designed from the ground up but still resembles Apple’s iPhone 6 models.
The infographic focuses mostly on hardware innovations in the Galaxy S family. Where software is concerned, luckily Samsung appears to have learned a lot from its earlier experiences with TouchWiz, making the Galaxy S6 models sleeker than any previous model in that regard, and severely cutting down on bloatware.
The new Galaxy S6 models will launch in various markets starting with April 10th, giving you plenty of time to study the following infographic and decide whether the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge should be your next smartphone.
