We recently saw a $250,000 Lamborghini Huracan crash at 200 MPH, and a second recent video showed a ridiculous 2,000-hp Lamborghini Gallardo crashing into a pond after the driver lost control. Now, it’s time for a much less depressing Lamborghini video.
Late last month, Underground Racing’s tuned twin turbo Lamborghini Gallardo set a world record for the fastest time reaching by a street car during a standing half mile, and thankfully for us, the car’s ridiculous record-smashing run was caught on video for all to enjoy.
DON’T MISS: This is the dumbest iPhone app I’ve ever seen – and that’s why it’s so brilliant
Built for a client by Charlotte, North Carolina-based Underground Racing, the 2011 Gallardo Superleggera is fitted with a custom twin turbo system and, as you might imagine, plenty of other mods and tuning. During WannaGoFast Florida last month, the car was driven by Underground Racing owner KC Howeth and it set a new world record.
Just how fast did Howeth take the twin turbo beast? How does 233.88 MPH sound? The standing half mile record had previously been held by another Underground Racing-built Gallardo that reached a top speed of 224 MPH during the half mile, beating its own previous record of 217 MPH.
The new world record was captured at a few different angles thanks to some strategically placed GoPro cameras, and Underground Racing’s video is embedded below.
