Apple is about to increase paid apps prices for some users, the company told developers, with the change affecting both App Store and Mac App Store customers. The change will impact customers in Canada, the European Union, Norway, Iceland and Russia, 9to5Mac reports.

Apparently, the stronger dollar and adjustments in value-added tax are to blame for the price changes.
“Within the next 36 hours, prices on the App Store will increase for all territories in the European Union as well as in Canada and Norway, decrease in Iceland, and change in Russia,” the company said in an email to app developers. These changes are being made to account for adjustments in value-added tax (VAT) rates and foreign exchange rates.”
Except for Iceland, where app prices will be going down, all other countries will see price increases. Russia will likely also see price hikes for apps, even though Apple’s email only mentions a “change.”
Only recently, Apple made a different, more subtle change to the App Store terms of service that apply to EU customers, offering the ability to receive a refund for any paid app, as long as it’s claimed within a 14-day period following the purchase.
Regardless of iTunes content pricing changes, iPhone and iPad users looking to score free access on various premium apps can always keep an eye out for BGR’s regular app discounts roundups.
