Apple is rumored to kick off a massive iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c sale campaign this week in its retail stores, enticing existing iPhone users eligible for an on-contract iPhone upgrade with new iPhone trade-in deals. However, Apple isn’t the only company ready to offer better prices on its newest iPhone models, as Target already has a few hot offers of its own for iPhone buyers.
From May 4 through May 10, Target will offer iPhone fans who want to trade-in their older smartphones up to $300 toward the purchase of an off-contract iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c. Shopping with a Target REDcard will add further discounts, with Target offering an additional 5% of the price of the chosen iPhone for such purchases. Buyers looking to trade up to the iPhone will be able to do so either in Target retail stores or online, and the deal is good as long as their old smartphone is still in working condition.
Regular iPhone 5s off-contract prices start at $649, with the cheapest off-contract iPhone 5c costing $549 when purchased from Apple. Target’s iPhone prices start at $699.99 and $599.99, respectively.
On top of its off-contract trade-in deal, Target has further slashed the prices of the two 2013 iPhone models for on-contract purchases – a qualifying new AT&T, Sprint or Verizon is required in such cases. The 16GB iPhone 5c is selling for $29.99 ($70 off) with qualifying contract and the 16GB iPhone 5s retailing for $119.99 ($80 off), also with a contract. Customers who choose the flagship handset rather than the more colorful version will also get a $20 Target Gift Card with every purchase.
