The Galaxy S8 is expected to launch in April, and we’re currently witnessing a massive deluge of reports and leaks. Some of them are in-depth reports that seem to answer every question we might have about the upcoming Samsung flagship. Others are a bit more puzzling — especially some of the recent case leaks that we’ve seen.
The Galaxy S8 case pictured in the video seems to also fit the Galaxy S7, giving credence to reports that suggest the two phones will be similar in size. The Galaxy S8 Plus case, meanwhile, is just a bit wider than last year’s Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy Note 7, but matches these phones when it comes to height.
But what’s perplexing about these cases is that they don’t seem to have their ports straight. There doesn’t seem to be an opening on the bottom side that would fit a microUSB or USB-C charging cable. Rumors say the phone is getting a USB-C port, but the openings in the case still don’t actually accommodate it. Instead, an opening on the lower side suggests that both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus might ship with a stylus.
Samsung is also rumored to place a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone, but there’s no opening for it. We do see openings for the rear camera and what should be the heartbeat sensor. It’s worth mentioning that earlier rumors said the phone will have the sensor embedded in the screen like Apple’s upcoming iPhone 8, and we’ve yet to see any leaked Galaxy S8 case with an opening for a fingerprint scanner on the back.
Of course, this is just a prototype case, and there’s no telling what the manufacturer actually knows about the finished Galaxy S8 phones. So we’ll just have to wait for Samsung to unveil the phone, at which point we’ll know exactly what ports reside on the bottom of the phone.
