2015 is a pretty monumental year for Back to the Future fans. Not only did the iconic movie celebrate its 30th anniversary this past July, but October 21, 2015 marks the date that Marty McFly and his trusty cohort Doc travel to the future in Back to the Future Part II.
While many of the futuristic items depicted in the aforementioned 1989 sequel haven’t exactly come to fruition — though we have made some ever so slight progress on the hoverboard front — there are a few items from the film which can readily be brought to market. And gleefully leading the charge in that regard is Pepsi who, in celebration of the film, will release a limited edition and collectible Pepsi bottle modeled after the design depicted in the movie.
Dubbed Pepsi Perfect, the bottle sports the same slender and curvy aesthetic that was “delivered to Michael J. Fox’s character through a futuristic pneumatic tube.”
Unfortunately, USA Today notes that only 6,500 bottles will be manufactured. With such a limited supply, the bottles will be available exclusively online and will retail for the symbolic price of $20.15.
“We’re fans of this popular trilogy, and just generally, if you work at Pepsi you’re fans of pop culture,” Pepsi marketing executive Lou Arbetter explained. “The brand has made its mark in pop culture frankly since Michael Jackson moonwalked. We’ve been dancing in and around pop culture for a while. So we look at this as another opportunity to have a little bit of fun.”

On a related note, October 21 will also mark the release of a brand new Back to the Future documentary which promises to deliver an unprecedented look at the people and story behind the creation of what is arguably one of more iconic films in history.
