One of my theories was that, with the launch of the MacBook Air, Apple might eventually get rid of the standard MacBook as we know it, and simply rename the MacBook Air the MacBook. It could overhaul the MacBook Pro lineup into solid-state, tapered, thinner and lighter machines, and you’ve got quite a lineup, right? In any case, MacRumors is reporting that several sources have informed them of supply shortages for 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro models in Apple stores and thirty-party retailers. This points to Apple most likely limiting stock in advance of a product update. Additionally, Amazon is quoting a 1-2 month shipment window for the 17-inch MacBook Pro, though Apple continues to ship all MacBook Pro laptops within 24 hours of purchase from its online store.
