Good morning from Samsung’s CTIA 2011 Mobile Unpacked event. The company has not been shy about throwing its “78910” event tagline around, so we think we know what we’re getting ourselves into.  We’re expecting to see a new, 8.9-inch, Galaxy Tab tablet officially welcomed into the Samsung portfolio. We’re also hoping to get a U.S. release date for the Galaxy Tab 10.1, which was announced last month at Mobile World Congress. Will there be any surprises? A new 7-inch Galaxy Tab? Galaxy S II Mini? While we’re not expecting to hear any product announcements at this particular keynote, the group on stage will definitely have plenty to talk about. Verizon Wireless CEO, Dan Meade; Sprint CEO, Dan Hesse; AT&T CEO, Ralph de la Vega; and T-Mobile USA CEO, Philipp Humm will be sitting down for a “carrier roundtable” hosted by CNBC’s Jim Cramer. We’re hoping to hear some dialogue on the proposed merger between AT&T and T-Mobile from the wireless executives. The event kicks off at 9:00 a.m. ET, hit the jump to follow along! More →

The show runs through Thursday, in fact, and promises to bring us awesome mobile news from start to finish. While day 1 of the show winds down — it’s now 4:00PM local time — Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is just getting ready to deliver his anticipated MWC keynote. Windows Phone 7 is expected to be a focus, given the venue, and we wouldn’t be surprised to hear Ballmer talk about Nokia a fair bit as well. Live from HP / Palm’s ‘Think Beyond’ event!

Live from HP / Palm’s ‘Think Beyond’ event!

By on February 9, 2011 at 12:43 PM.

This is it boys and girls — the event we’ve been anxiously awaiting ever since Hewlett-Packard announced its intention to acquire Palm, Inc. for $1.2 billion last April. $1.2 billion is a lot of scratch, and you can be sure that HP didn’t have the Pre 2 in mind when it took control of the struggling cell phone maker last year. But we’re reasonable, as we hope all webOS fans are, and we’re definitely willing to give HP a pass just this once… provided, of course, it has something special to show us at today’s event. Will HP answer the call and unveil some drool-worthy webOS-powered gear, or will its new efforts be lost amid the tsunami of tablets set to come crashing down on the market this year? Hit the break for our live blog of today’s “Think Beyond” event, which starts at 10:00AM PST / 1:00PM EST, and don’t forget to refresh the page for all the latest action! More →

Live from Sprint’s Kyocera Echo event

Live from Sprint’s Kyocera Echo event

By on February 7, 2011 at 5:55 PM.

Some of the mystery and allure surrounding Sprint’s event this evening has likely been squashed. First, it was revealed that the device set to be unveiled today is the Android-powered Kyocera Echo. Then The Wall Street Journal spoiled Sprint’s surprise even further when it reported that the Echo will feature a unique dual-display form factor. Sprint appears to have quite the show in store for us tonight, however, including a presentation from CEO Dan Hesse and an appearance by none other than illusionist David Blaine. And who knows — we could definitely be in store for a surprise or two. BGR is on-hand at the event, and we’ll be live blogging all of the action right here. So hit the break and don’t forget to refresh the page for all the latest updates as they become available. More →

Live from the Verizon iPhone event!

Live from the Verizon iPhone event!

By on January 11, 2011 at 10:35 AM.

We’re here, waiting in line, and ready to go. Everyone is expecting Verizon Wireless to announce that they will be carrying the Apple iPhone within weeks, and we’d be pretty shocked if that’s not what we’ll get. Could there be some other light Apple news sprinkled in? Maybe FaceTime over 3G? It’s possible, but we wouldn’t bet on it. Let’s see if the Verizon iPhone supports world roaming or even simultaneous voice and data — a huge win, if they can pull both of those off. Our live coverage is after the break, and make sure to refresh the page often as updates come pouring in!

UPDATE: Don’t forget to check out Verizon Wireless’ iPhone 4 announcement with all the details you need — and our Verizon iPhone hands-on impressions is now live, complete with images and a video! More →
