IPad 3 with Retina Display again said to be launching in early 2012

As has become commonplace over the past few years, The Wall Street Journal again confirms numerous reports that Apple is preparing a new iPad tablet to launch in early 2012. Earlier reports from multiple sources claimed that Apple’s third-generation iPad, which had supposedly been targeted for a fall or winter 2011 launch, had slipped back to Apple’s now-customary spring launch time frame next year. Apple had reportedly been having issues with its display partners, who are unable to manufacture the iPad 3′s alleged 2,048 x 1,536-pixel display quickly enough to meet the company’s volume demands for a launch this year. Apple is still thought to be on track for a fall iPhone launch however, with at least one new smartphone expected to be announced next month.

    To me, it’s still ridiculous to even think Apple was ever considering releasing iPad 2 and 3 in the same calendar year.  I highly doubt the now planned 2012 release is because of a delay.

    A new iPad in spring? I’m shocked. I figured it would be 2014 before Apple updated the ipad. Apple is kinda slow and unpredictable with it’s refreshes.

      Totally agree!  Totally.  They should be more like Android and come out with a new “refresh” almost weekly.  With barely minor changes.  And only to some of the phones – and not even to all of the new phones.  That would be awesome!

    I simply will not buy into these rumors until BGR posts at least another 4 stories stating the same thing as this article.. I just refuse to buy in… I need more identical articles to believe this….

    Another rumor? Come on BGR. Like I said before – bundle several of these into an Apple rumor roundup instead of posting “someone said” at least once a day. I know there’s not much official Apple news, but no news is better than this. Almost as bad as how often a certain Android-focused site posts Droid Bionic rumors/info.
    BTW, my cousin’s girlfriend’s mother’s cousin said that the new iPad will launch in the Spring of 2012, and the iPhone 4S/5 will be announced sometime in September with availability within a few weeks of announcement.

    So thats why Stevie is trying to block the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Ipad2 is currently outdone (spec, performance wise, not sales) by Sammy and if he can stall Sammy for a few months then the Ipad3 will be the best tablet available again and Sammy is no treat.
