Amazon announces 4G phone sale for Memorial Day weekend

Amazon is known for offering deep smartphone discounts on a normal day, so when the retail giant announces a special holiday sale, prospective smartphone buyers would be wise to check it out. In celebration of Memorial Day, AmazonWireless is offering sale prices on nearly 20 4G smartphones. Highlights from the Memorial Day weekend sale include the Samsung DROID Charge for $179.99, the LG Revolution for $149.99, the HTC ThunderBolt for $129.99, the Samsung Infuse 4G for $129.99, the T-Mobile G2x for $99.99, Sprint’s Google Nexus S 4G for $49.99 and the HTC Inspire 4G for just $0.01. All prices are on contract, of course. Amazon is also offering a few other incentives, a $10 Amazon Appstore credit for students when they purchase of an Xperia PLAY between now and June 4th, and a $25 Amazon gift card with the purchase of any Windows Phone starting May 30th.

Mmm android phones well ok but what happen to real good phones like the iphone 3 GS and iphone 4 that a way more cooler and better? Mmm and the professional phone like blackberry? From my
Experience the iphone 4 is the phone to beat , better battery life better os, better email experience and better gaming & better talking. Whatch Out Androit Fans when the next iphone is getting out!!! Youll want to wait in lines for hours at the apple store.

Are you aware that DROID DOES?! Don’t be a r3tard. Apple sucks.

      • Michaelkieth

Norm – I’m a Droid guy and not a fan of Apple just like the rest of us, and while we appreciate the effort, there is no excuse for the r-word in any context. Despite whatever intention you meant to imply, the use only promotes hate, ignorance and offence.

Awww did he offend you? Suck it up and get over it. Apple sheep are retards. Have to be to pay so much money for a 3 or 4 yr old PC.

    • Steve Hillshire

Mmm, we heard that with the iPhone 4 as well.  “Sure Android is beating the 3GS but wait until the iPhone 4 comes out”.  Yawn.

The iPhone 4S will be a snoozer. Don’t expect a breakthrough device. Apple won’t make their move until they get an LTE version out, and that won’t be until 2012. I have an iPhone 4 and I have been waiting and praying that Apple gets us a new version with a bigger display. I’m not going to hold my breath on that. I want a half smart phone half tablet. It’s not looking like I will get that on the next iPhone. Plus I’m all bent out of shape because iOS does not support text reflow. Plus I want SWYPE, an SD card, and I need Flash support for using one single website that I need for business purposes. I am so frustrated with Apple I don’t know what to do. I’m close to accepting the fact that they are not going to make my wish list a priority. This summer I may upgrade and go for a Samsung Infuse, or I might hold out for an HTC Holiday. I will miss my iPhone and the smoothness of the GUI. Nothing compares to that. But oh well.

    • Bringit

      What?

    • Carlton Flowers

Not really. I love my iPhone 4, but the next gen iPhone “4S” will be missing a few key components that I can’t live without. I have waited for 2 years for Apple to bring text reflow to the Safari browser. It’s not going to happen. They don’t even know what text reflow is, much less care that people like me who do heavy reading need it so desperately. What I want for my iPhone is also SWYPE, Flash support (for a singular business use that I have on one website), a larger display, and an SD card. Those things are not going to happen. There is a possiblity that they could bring speech-to-text as a native app (like all new Android devices), but I’m not going to bet the farm on that either.

Shame they don’t give as good a discount for upgrades (T-Bolt is $129 new contract, $199 upgrade)… Way to reward your existing customers, service providers!

    • Joe112

      quit crying little robert.. Hahaha..

    • 1jimmymansfield

That’s because Amazon is a volume pusher.. they get paid nothing, actually lose money on every upgrade in hopes of gaining the losses on new activations…. Where as in you walk into a store, new activations and upgrades leave paying the same price, and actually sometimes pre-existing customers get a better deal do to additional incentive credits… Don’t bitch about Verizon not taking care of their customers, that’s what happens when you buy a phone from an online Volume seller, they are not Verizon, they are their to push numbers and sell…. Who you gonna call if you have an issue with your phone, 9 times out of ten, it is not Amazon

The Thunderbolt has actually been $129.99 on a new contract from Amazon for at least a couple weeks now (I got mine through them a week and a half ago for that price). I guess their just advertising it more now.

  • Plantemichel

iPhone 4 is the solution !!! Norm Droiders everything droid does iPhone 4 do it better !!! But we won’t start to play my dad is stronger than yours thing because we are mature no?

    • Joe112

Hmmm.. A year old phone.. No thank you.. Lol..

      • Memberships

but if you have say an incredible and was waiting for the 7th to upgrade, wouldnt that mean that i would have to have two contracts, with a year left on one (old one) and two one the new one)

    • NotRelevent

so the iCrap 4 does flash? Didn’t think so. Try again.

  • Myjunkhere

Hm. Definitely looks like this is a new customer sale. LAME. What about up people that want to upgrade?

    • http://www.erictate.com/ Eric Tate

Don’t blame Amazon. Blame the carriers since they don’t pay out nearly as much commission for upgrades as they do for new activations. Amazon simply can’t offer those prices to upgrades without incurring a loss in profit.

  • Rcogar

I’m trying to get the HTC Inspire for 0.01, and it will let me do it for every kind of new plan and every existing customer option (including adding a line to a family plan), but the one I want—upgrading my phone on a family plan.  Bummer.

  • Myjunkhere

You know, I realized that in my scanning the “article” i somehow read a “4 day sale” (obviously it was 4G). So I’m holding out hope that prices will change for all customers once Saturday hits.

  • Van

alright, so it’s new customers only :( LAME. Any word on the rumors of amazon having free phones on Monday?

    • Afangrywarrior

I’ve been checking all day those rumors seem to be false.. Iwas hoping to activate a Droid charge for free today. And for the apple fanboys, iPhone is about as unique as the color white. At least Androids come in different shapes, sizes, models and we’re not all wannabes…
