Angry Birds Rio flies to webOS devices

Gaming

HP announced today that the latest installation in the Angry Birds franchise, Angry Birds Rio, is now available for download from the webOS App Catalog. The game sports 60 different levels across two different episodes, and Rovio promises to provide episodic updates throughout the rest of this year. If you’re tired of killing little green pigs, have no fear, the goal this time around is to attack angry monkeys and free other caged fowl. Angry Birds Rio is available for $1.99 on the Palm Pre, Pre Plus and Pre 2, provided that you’re running webOS 1.4.5 or later.

I’d like them to discuss how easy it was to port the iPhone version over to WebOS using PDK so other iOS developers will copy. Can be done in 2 days I’m told.

Too bad no Amazon app store for webOS. They could be rocking this game for the effing free like on my Epic. Nice game.

Wow, wonder if it’ll ever hit blackberry…. not that I use one… but considering they’ve been wanting it. I don’t believe running Android Apps packaged to run in an emulated form of Android is the solution here either.

Like webos doesn’t have nearly any markets are and their reasoning for not developing for blackberry was because os it’s marketshare.. I dont get it.

Please remove “Palm” from all articles…It has been removed from the HP campus completely since it is no longer used.

If you have a Palm Pre, Pre Plus or Pixi you likely won’t ever see another update. I received an e-mail from Rovio yesterday, after waiting over three weeks for a response:

    Hello,

and thank you for your patience in waiting for an answer from us.

We have been investigating performance issues on Palm devices for a long time now. Palm Pre and Pre Plus have some severe firmware issues which prevent latest versions of Angry Birds running properly. Unfortunately Palm has decided not to support them with firmware updates anymore.

We are working very hard to solve those issues but unfortunately can not guarantee Angry Birds games to work perfectly on those devices.

The good thing is that when Palm is starting to roll out new devices, we will be able to support them all.

    We apologize for the inconvenience.

    Best regards,

: If it is true there will be no more updates for any of the Angry Birds on my Palm Pre Plus then I would like a refund please.

    – Sent from my Palm Pre

Nice to know!! Especially since they already have my $1.99. The game played fine on my Pre Plus, the two levels I have anyway; I just won’t be getting the updates the rest of the world will. Because I bought a Palm! I hope HP/Palm/Rovio enjoyed spending my $1.99, they will never get another penny of my money. I wouldn’t have bought ABR if I’d known I was only going to get two levels! My contract is up next month and this faithful Palm user (since Treo 600) is buying an iPhone. I’m thinking, “Class action lawsuit.” Who’s with me?
