Windows Phone 7 worldwide launch one week from today, on T-Mobile

General

Despite all the talk about AT&T being Microsoft’s exclusive U.S. launch partner for Windows Phone 7, it looks like T-Mobile will actually have the honor. According to a post on Microsoft’s website, the “Windows Phone 7 Worldwide Launch Event” will take place next Monday, October 11, in New York City. The site also notes that, “T-Mobile reps will be present for device showing and their service offering discussion.” With the launch of the G2 and the relaunch of the myTouch 3G, it looks like the nation’s #4 carrier is coming out swinging for the holidays. There you have it. October 11, New York City, Windows Phone 7. We’re hoping to see that giant, sexy slab of a device known as the HD7. How about you?

    Excellent T-Mobile! – D

  • Mr MN

It is starting to look like T-Mobile is tired of being 4th and they’re starting to make their way up to a new one. It’s time for some election campaign-like ads just like Verizon and AT&T did. I wonder who they will call out. Let the fight begin.

  • Peguero

T-Mobile needs to complete there 3G, let alone there service. Why launch a device so sleek for the worst carrier?

    • Donny

I think its good that tmobile is getting it first. They are a great Beta tester for the real companies who will get the better updated version of whatever they get.

      • PAPINYC

Classic line: ‘Beta tester’! You are so right, had to “plus” you. Proof is in the pudding; T-mobile had such great success with the HD2 that all of the other U.S. carriers added it to their line-ups.

Uhhhh…. I haven’t seen anything anywhere that says Tmo is EXCLUSIVE. As a matter of fact, I’ve read some theories that At&t will be exclusive first, and T-mo is just announcing their lineup, which may drop like a month after At&t or such. I’m just not getting why BGR wants to confuse everyone or misrepresent this information when none of the other sites do. Even the smaller sites dedicated to T-mo don’t think T-mo is exclusive or first.

Fantastic. You go girl. TMO roolz da skool fool

  • MacMan

If tmobile gets the first win7 phone, then you know where win7 is going …. Down hill.

  • NokiaN900User

@MacMan – DOWNHILL??? Android started with TMO BTW

    • MacMan

Learn how to reply. Android is like the japanese knockoff of the ios, similar but with a cheap feel. If ios was sold by every phone company, more than half would drop there droids.

      • Donny

That is completely BS. The average consumer needs and wants the ability to load custom ROMS, access the root file and loves the need for a task manager that can’t close half the rogue apps on a DROID. You mean to tell me people want something that is intuitive and makes your life simpler and more effecient? GTFO!

      • Mr.Bill

        An downgrade, seriously?

You trolls are really drunk on the kool aid.

Wait, listen closely,… someones trip trapping across your bridge, go collect your toll.

    • waazzupppp

Saying T-Mo started with Android is like saying a running back started with the ball and would have had a touchdown if they hadn’t fumbled. Sure they got the G1, but they also introduced MOTO Blur too…

T-Mo is a decent carrier, so are the other three. Problem is, they are all going to get quite a bit more expensive for power users soon. And doesn’t T-Mo charge like $10 month more than everyone else for data already?

      • Jake One

Wow, way to be incorrect on SO MANY levels.

  • JM

I hope they do launch a WP7 device soon. I don’t like the idea of AT&T having exclusives on every device because I have no intention of signing up for their services again.

  • sean76

Nobody even knows how win 7 is going to perform. I’m staying pretty far away from getting one until I see some cold hard facts, and demoing on how it really performs as OS. Microsoft’s track record with buggy software is just so common. I am curious to see it though, new is always cool!

    • Mgl323

Bing it and you’ll find some videos. I’ve have seen some videos where windows 7 phone having a really fast browser(compared to nexus with 2.2 and iPhone 4) and windows 7 phone was still a prototype.
