Apple terminating free case program September 30

General

This afternoon, on Apple’s official iPhone 4 Case Program website, the company released the following statement:

We now know that the iPhone 4 antenna attenuation issue is even smaller than we originally thought. A small percentage of iPhone 4 users need a case, and we want to continue providing them a Bumper case for free. For everyone else, we are discontinuing the free case program on all iPhone 4s sold after September 30, 2010. We are also returning to our normal returns policy for all iPhone 4s sold after September 30. Users experiencing antenna issues should call AppleCare to request a free Bumper case.

There has been no official word on whether or not the Cupertino company has made any internal adjustments to the iPhone 4′s antenna design.

“We now know that the iPhone 4 antenna attenuation issue is even smaller than we originally thought.”

No, we now know that we will be selling the “new and improved” iP4 with a redesigned antenna. So of course we now have to hear the smug comment of how it wasn’t ever a problem. It wasn’t ever an issue but…. I’m gonna throw a Presser just for the hell of it and ya know what?? I’m gonna give away cases that weren’t ever made for the previous iPhones away for FREE!! What a great guy I am…

Typically corporate spin. “We now know it wasn’t really an issue at all!” Right, keep glazing over it. It’s only less of an issue now because you’re updating your bad antenna design in a new hardware revision.

He’s definitely NOT talking about his ego…

I agree with the guy who said that instead of Apple giving away free bumper cases…they should give free Android phones to replace their iPhones that require a rubber bumper.
