Motorola DROID 2 does hokey pokey, that's what it's all about

General

If you are eagerly awaiting the DROID 2 to be released by Verizon Wireless, here is another good sign. The folks over at Droid-Life have found the devices 360-degree viewer on VZW’s website (a right of passage that all Verizon phones are treated to). To review: dummy units of the DROID 2 are on display and priced at some Best Buy locations, Verizon employees have been getting DROID 2 training, some Verizon Wireless and Best Buy locations are already carrying DROID 2 accessories, inventory numbers for the device began showing up in Verizon Wireless’ internal system yesterday, and the 360-degree web assets are appearing on Verizon’s site. Looks like everything is in line for a August 12th launch, no?

More unimaginative crap from motorola and verizon, yay!

Atleast this phone will make phone calls and have actual 3G reception, unlike your magical iDevice

      • Matt D

I get perfect 3G service and have no problems making calls in the Boston area.

It’s a solid, evolutionary improvement over a very popular phone. Unlike the iPhone, which only gives 70% of what people want to make sure that every new model has something that His Steveness can preen over, Motorola just went ahead and did the best they could.

Was it perfect? Of course not. That keyboard received a lot of stick, and rightly so. But they didn’t artificially limit anything. Now it’s a year (or however long it’s been) later, and they’re getting ready to release a phone in an under-represented form factor (slide-out QWERTY for Android) that has powerful internals.

I probably overwhelmed you with words and syllables there, but I apologize for nothing.

    • iPhone < Droid

Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

Droid VS iPhone is Windows VS Mac all over again. Your boy Steve Jobs is just repeating his own history. Who new that was even possible??

You turn yourself around. That’s what it’s all about.

  • HTZ

Why is Lifted talking about the iPhone when this is a Droid two post?? Annoying!!!!

  • Tony

I’m facing a moral dilemma here. I love Verizon and I love Google, but should I still give them my business after this whole net neutrality thing? Maybe if we stop using their services they will get the message. We can’t let companies control our internet. I think I may just switch to CREDO mobile.

    • Tony

I love how people just vote me down. Please explain to me why I’m wrong. Pussies.

      • Tony

-5 and still no response? You people really are pussies. Please, use your conservative logic to refute what I’ve said.

  • TAd

Anyone know if there will be an equivalent upgrade to the Milestone? Maybe a Milestone 2? (Or hey, how ’bout a Kilometrestone for us Canucks?! :)

    • Peter

+1 Need Milestone 2 on Telus so I can import it for AT&T!

  • tech junkie for life

Had a guy turn into work this week with a brand spanking new Droid1, Doh! So I sent him away to where he got it (Bestbuy), they told him to come back Monday to get the Droid2. Not saying thats the date thou, just what he was told.

It’s “rite of passage”, not “right of passage”.

Is it just me or is anyone else surprised that they have the same 5 MP camera? Or is it a bigger sensor?

Anyone know any differences in it?

    • TIG

Are you wondering why it’s not more than 5MP? Because that’s already overkill for a phone.
