It a big improvement IMO. Since the multi- tasking helps a lot for some or all people who have an iPhone.

  • Mike

The upgrade process worked fine for me. It took about 20 minutes. Everything is working great on my phone. Actually it seems must faster.

  • sirpaul

Sweet. Now I have to wait for a jailbreak.

  • DigDug

Problem: ive upgraded (3GS) to new OS; ive created 3 app folders. But now it wont let me move other app icons back and forth to other “pages.” They wont go either way, but can be moved around within a page. Any thoughts?

    • gant77

I know you’ve veen trying it, but it’s almost like you have to “pull it” in the bottom left corner. That’s where I have had the most luck whan I get a troublesome app or folder.

  • vwgti303

Yeah, where the hell did visual voicemail go?

and Android falls down a few more steps down.. cant wait to see what you apple haters have to say… ima have to do a little video on how my friends droid will alwayz freeze, not load videos and how much slower his 3g coverage is than mine lol… go on and hate

    • Marco

      I have an iPhone 3GS. I have 6 Apps opened. Only 10.56 MB available… Apple can’t multi-task!

I use to have 90 MB or more… Food for thought. Apple ain’t perfect.

      • Robert Martinez

oh hell yeah apple is not perfect… i hated apple up untill 2007 lmao

      • dboy

im never below 75 with more than 150 apps running day/night…ouch. Over 100 when I task-kill…double ouch

    • meh

      You are sad and pathetic.

      • Robert Martinez

        just like you family lmao

    • Rob D.

You mean how IOS has just now catching up to android even though they are the elder OS?

Multitasking – Droid does since the G1
Threaded emails – Droid does since the G1 also
      Folders – Droid does
Ibooks – Droid does via app
Home screen wallpaper – Really? Droid does better
      Spell checking – Droid does
Tap to focus – Droid does

While exciting for Iphone users. For those who use or have used Andoid. Most all of these features are old news. So your statement makes no sense.

Also try not to compare carriers as it has nothing to do with the OS itself or the Phones. Not to mention service can differ depending on where you are.

      • dboy

yeh all the iPhones new tech is older than dirt for us G1 owners, and for most android owners in general. I cant wait to see how the 2.2Froyo update spanks this sad excuse for an update. Then at the end of the year we’ll be able to compare how 2.2 spanks IOS compared to 3.0Gingerbread spanking 2.2 lol…its gonna be a looong winter iPhanboys!!

    • dboy

shhh why don’t you go wait another year for your next update….oh yeh..your already waiting!

  • ccdev

    love it already!!

installed it on my iPod touch and its “OK”, not a big change, and kinda what last years OS should have been. doesn’t seem like they are trying too hard. had to go to work (yes, some people have jobs and can’t sit around here all day fanning the flames). And as of now I still think android 2.1 is better and has more options. Hate away, but remember this, if you don’t have the other to compare it too, your argument holds no weight, granted I cannot attest to the quality of IOS4′s new improved geotagging but the rest of it I can and it’s “OK”

  • Ricky

anybody find the iOS 4 a bit magical and revolutionary?

    • kwabena

      magical my ass lol

  • http://Boygebiusreport.com Tater Tot

What’s different from the ios 4 goldmaster. And the ios 4 just release today

  • Amy

Anyone continually getting pop-up “Passcode Expired – Your passcode has expired” after updating to OS 4 on a 3Gs device? Every time I touch the device, I have to reset the password. This happens even after I restored the device back to defaults via iTunes

    • Elijah

mine too, did you find a solution?

    • Rome Palmore IV

Are using an Exchange Server configuration profile on your iPhone?

  • Robert Martinez

why do yOu all hate apple, if you dont like it just stick with android and keep telling yourself its better what do we care, lol its not like you HAVE to look at every update they have on the iPhone. then come on here and talk smack about something you wish u had…

    • Rob D.

You mean how you troll the Droid post about how the Iphone is so much better.

    • Drew

“something you wish you had…”. LMAO!! Clearly you are delusional. Btw, being the “Anybody who posts against Apple” Police looks just a tad bit desperate.

    • dboy

i for one am an avid fan of Apple since they were wee wittle Macintosh. But as an ex-iPhone owner, and a current Android owner, if anybody is to be able to give credible opinions its guys/gals like me.
Fanbroids and Phanboys you all need to shhh unless you have owned both. If you HAVE, the better of the two is clear. Class dismissed.

  • d33pa

anybody update their 3G iphone? I am tempted to update.. would love any input on how ios4 is running on your 3G device.

Visual Voice mail disappeared on me too. But calling my # and leaving a message resolved that issue for me.

    • rdubmu

Yeah, I clicked on voice mail and then it called it, I listened to one saved message…then hung up…thinking visual voicemail disappeared. A minute later, I get a voicemail password pop up…and wa-la, I have visual voice mail again :)

  • gersh

For the love of God…..Trying to update my 3G to iOS4 and the backup is taking FOREEEEEEVER. Seems I’m not the only one from some previous posts.

  • tmac

thanks for the early notice BGR. I upgraded right after this post and had several friends that were unable to upgrade later in the afternoon.

  • tristan

a FREE upgrade? from apple? wth is going on over there, its not Christmas yet.

  • Nico

Same problem than Anthony here, everything works but 3g / edge, plus the voicemail button is now not directly assosiated but i have to dial it. I think it has to do with the “carrier” field being as not available… ideas?

    • Arjan

I have the same issue, got 3g with unlockit.co.nz (visit from your iphone) but no tethering etc..
