Sprint kicks off its national EVO 4G ad campaign

Last year, Sprint wasn’t doing itself any favors with its absolutely awful Palm Pre TV ad campaign, but this year’s hero phone — the HTC EVO 4G — has an ad that people will actually “get”. Sure, it might be a bit too DROID Does for some, and others will likely be reminded of those “we are all one” ads played frequently during the Olympics and World Cup, but for our money the ad is great. Check it out after the jump.

    I am already VERY UNHAPPY with my iphone (for many reasons)-this evo is going to be the phone that convinces me to pay the fee and hop over.

    Sure the commercial wasn’t as “impacting” as the droid commercials were, however what is the evo target buyer ? Or do cell companies not target products to certain age groups ? A businessman watching a droid commercial isn’t going to go buy a spaceship phone. A businessman watching a commercial about innovation, progression, and moving forward might.

    What. The. Hell. Did I hear a damn piano? You have, arguably, the most powerful cellphone on your network. The first U.S. phone with two-way videoconferencing. The fastest-growing mobile O.S. and the second most anticipated phone this year (we all know the first) and this is what your ad agency comes up with? First, fire them and your internal marketing folks. Second, I like the theme of “firsts” so keep that and focusing on 4G is good, but you have to mention Android. I don’t care what your female focus group said about the name being too masculine blah blah blah. Third, I’m not saying copy Verizon, but realize Android and smartphones in general are about possibilities and power. This wimpy ad conveys neither.

    “Sprints 4G coverage is nowhere near coming close to Tmobiles 3G coverage”

    Are you fucking retarded?? How long did it take Tmobile to roll out a respectable 3g network? Sprint has had one for the past 10 years…Tmobile had to ask Clear if they can have sum space for when they launch their own 4g network “One Day”. What a joke. Their 3.5G is in what 2 cities?

    John, the incredible shortage isn’t all due to demand, it’s because samsung didn’t make enough smiled screens for it.

    Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).

    • Actually it does not have Samsung OLED…

    @Brendan,

    they are not the same phone @all. the incredible has an opitical trackball, fm radio and super amoled screen, which the evo does not have. the evo has 4.3″ screen(compared to the incredibles 3.7″), front-facing camera,

    I for one loved the commercial. They put the emphassis on 4G and being the first carrier with 4G. That is exactly what they should have done. Putting emphassis on Android would not have been Sprint specific, however the 4G is Sprint’s. A footnote emphasizing Android wouldn’t hurt but the whole point of the commercial was Sprint being FIRST into the next generation of mobile.

      I would’ve liked to hear something about the actual phone rather than them sell a 4G network with almost no coverage nationwide.
