Half-Life 2 and Geometry Wars demoed on Project Natal for the Xbox 360?

Rumor

A new video emerged this week which supposedly showcases an individual playing Half Life 2 using Project Natal, Microsoft’s upcoming motion control platform for the Xbox 360. The video is blurry and crudely recorded but you can see places where the player is moving objects in the game by gesturing with his hands. This Half Life 2 video is eerily similar to another rumored Project Natal video which surfaced late last week. In this other, earlier video, the same person in what looks to be the same environment is reportedly demoing Geometry Wars. Check out both videos and let us know what you think of these potentially early demos of Project Natal.

full motion style games will be nice, however for FPS the issue I will have with it is lag. The other issue is sometimes they will not pick up me shooting or hiding or go where I want to hide. For games that are like little big planet that are large areas with not much in there, this would be great. In HL2 I just personally could see issues where I want to shoot and it changes to my grav gun. Likewise the power of using it in RTS would be pretty cool if it used like a HUD and you just tapped things in front of you…RPG/JRPG could be either a big win or huge let down. The market IMO is still Niche.

I rather use a actual controller to play my games. The last thing on my mind is standing up playing a game along with moving my arms etc.

I think it’s the idea that counts. Sure, few will want to play an FPS by waving their hands around, but other game types (maybe some that have not existed until now) will become possible or more interesting using this method.
The good news is that companies are innovating. The Wii has some great ideas but crappy hardware has held it back. It’s good to see MS and Sony thinking beyond the norm..Think about it, what’s the main difference between tis generation and the last?? Better graphics (HD) and the internet. That’s not much, really. Playing a game (well) with ONLY your body and no controller?? That’s kinda new.

Playing a RTS in a “Minority Report” fashion would be pretty awesome.

But yes, this will still be a niche novelty. I look forward to it and hope it provides some interesting games, but this isn’t going to replace anything, nor do I hope MS is assuming it will.

Gimme 3D games with Prog Natal and now we’re talking! No reason games won’t have specific controllers either. When you buy a game like half life you’ll probably get a bespoke controller or some new arm glove type controllers will be the norm. expect the unexpected.

I’m gonna be all over project natal when it comes out.

BGR ends its titles with question marks so it doesn’t get accused of false information even though it publishes an article about it?

It has always been our dream to use our console without any controller
with Natal, this dream could become a reality

And now we are seeing its proof on this video

You’re so right Alex. Also, so it’s possibily fake, majority of the time, if not all, you won’t see BG post it, even if he come up with the idea or post. Lol.

It looks fake to me… read some of the comments on that site’s page as well. Hah.

That’s really amazing. I got thrilled to see the video. I played this type of video before but with the support of key board or mouse. That is really unique game I think.
