bell-iphone-announcement

In case you thought you were imagining things before, Bell Canada will definitely be adding the iPhone to its lineup following on the heels of the Palm Pre and BlackBerry Bold. Canada’s largest network has a splash page in place but no release dates have been leaked just yet. Where are our Canadian connects at? We’ll keep you updated as usual when there’s more to report.

    With Rogers back-ordered for over 8 weeks for a 3GS, where do you figure Bell will find stock from?

      Are you mentally crippled? or live in the country?
      Because down here in montreal every apple store has #gS’ and so do all of the rogers stores

    bell iphone should launch november 6 2009

  • J.P Michaels

    Guys,
    That news is at least 4 days old. The Iphone announcement is on Bell’s and on Telus’s website since last week.

    Come with more exciting news.

  • Colin

    Is Bell the only network on earth that has the Pre and the iPhone now? If so, that’s interesting.

  • joe

    @martin, Rogers is out of stock, but the Apple Store isn’t. It seems that the stores and rogers.com doesn’t get much stock but it’s easy to walk into an Apple store and get one. Of course this doesn’t help if you don’t have an Apple store near you.

    Also, maybe the reason why there hasn’t been stock at Rogers is because Apple has been busy making iPhones for Telus and Bell.

  • J

    Isn’t Bell a CDMA tech?

  • Judge

    [sarcasm]Big secret![/sarcasm] Apple is pissed at Rogers. Has been for some time considering it took over a year to bring the iPhone to Canada after it had been intro’d in the States. Why do you think it’s impossible to get the phone in Rogers stores but is plentiful in Apple stores? It’s not like this happened spur-of-the-moment. This has been in the works since before the 3GS was released. Bell (and Telus) were not going to allow the 2010 Olympics to welcome a world of roaming phones only to the Rogers network.

    @Judge ^^ are you just spewing unfounded speculation from your *** or do you actually have any facts to back up your claim(s)?

    @Guy L.S.

    I agree with you…MOST of the rate plans are expiring on Nov 5th, so it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the NEW network is dropping on Nov 5th/6th. With the NEW network dropping, I’m 100% sure they’ll have the Iphone available on LAUNCH date.

  • DK

    I was in a Bell store a couple days ago and I overheard a guy saying he wanted to buy a Pre… To which the salesman replied: “Are you sure? We’re getting the iPhone pretty soon.”

    True story.

  • Zach

    Hey I’d have a 3gs but ATT is a fucking rip-off and trying to charge me $500 AND a new 2 year contract to get one!!! Why? Because I’m already a 3g iphone customer!! What a fucking joke!!! I called apple and they said ATT determines the promotional pricing. ATT is weaksauce.

  • Ravnos

    @Zach: Are you joking? AT&T is ripping you off because you signed a 2 year contract 1 year ago to get a cheap phone, and they won’t just sell you another phone for cheap without some benefit to them? How is that a rip off? How do they owe you anything beyond what they’re contractually obligated to provide? Talk about entitlement issues.

  • JohnBo

    Bell in a month or so is going to have the iPhone 3GS, Palm Pre AND the Bold 9700, Rogers is DEAD MEAT. I’m going to go buy me some shares of BCE!

  • Nico

    @J
    Yes Bell does have a CDMA network, but they are launching a HSPA network. Canadas other big Carrier, Telus is also launching HSPA.

  • g

    does anyone know what purchase order quantity Bell or Telus had to commit to for apple to do this deal?

  • g

    @Shawny
    you say you are 100% sure that the iphone will launch at Bell on Nov 6th. do you have a credible source for this information?

  • Shawny

    my source is myself…all things that I’m reading from Bell (internally) seem to lean towards a launch date release of Nov 6th

  • http://www.twitter.com/rogersmary Mary Pretotto

    Hi All, this is Mary from Rogers. Just want to point out that there is no current backlog with direct orders of the iPhone to Rogers customers. Rogers.com currently has inventory and so do many retail stores.

  • yoshi

    you’re all idiots and everyone fails to mention on these posts that Bell will lunch HSDPA on Nov. 6 allong with iphoner. duh!
