Boost Mobile to offer $50 unlimited iDEN plan starting January 22nd

Boost Mobile

Sprint’s Boost Mobile will launch a new “Monthly Unlimited” plan that includes unlimited minutes, unlimited text messaging, wireless Web and PTT services for $50 per month. The new low cost plan severely undercuts pretty much every competitive unlimited offering and is expected to snag consumers who are looking for a low cost alternative. Even though it runs on the slower iDEN network, the extremely low price point should definitely be attractive to budget minded consumers who use their phones primarily for voice and texting. The new plan is expected to be available starting January 22nd and will launch with new phones including a candy bar and a rumored but not yet confirmed unnamed smartphone. Our only request? Please Boost Mobile ad team – and we can’t stress this enough – leave Mickey Avalon out of the new commercials…

Thats the dude’s name, he’s actually somebody?! I though he was just some friggin tool that won a contest or some sh1t lmao, me and my roommates used to crack the F**k up @ that commercial… never cared enough to google it, but hey at least i know who he is no….

On the topic at hand, i am currently thinking of switching from VZW to Sprint for the $99 unlimited plan. Verizon rapes me on overages every friggin month and $99 seem cheap compaired to what i pay for my VZW bB now. Any honest thought on sprints network? I havent used them since my first spinach green screened nokia…ya, know with snake!lol

    FYI:
Mickey avalon is a one hit wonder with a very radio unfriendly, yet funny song “my D*ck”

His Sidekick Dirt Nasty is Simon Rex of former MTV VJ fame during the 90′s.

Saw them in concert in Boise ID, and it was very poorly put together. But entertaining.

Although I am a (very!) happy AT&T customer, this sounds like a great idea, and will likely cost the big ones a bunch of customers.

Most especially with this economy. I have a bunch of friends who were just laid off, and the first thing they have ALL done is cut down on features, etc. Great move by Sprint (who owns boost is it?)…

Cool this actually launched. Now how long do we wait before the other carriers follow :)

I believe that I read somewhere that this is going to be on Iden, does any one know what kind of speeds can one get with this ?

    thx !

I ALREADY GOT IT! I WAS A LITTLE PISSED THAT IT’S ON THE SLOWER NETWORK.. BUT SO FAR.. NO ISSUES.. I PUT THE CHIP IN THE i850 .. SERVICE IS PIMP!!!!

I’ve had Boost Mobile for about four years, and the service is always great! I tend to have reception even where others with different carriers do not. The only thing I’m personally dissapointed with is the data speeds. It can take a while to send a text or MMS message and when you want to surf the web, it’s pretty slow. I hardly use it though so it’s no biggie.

On the bright side, I’ve been able to install Opera Mini on an i860, i425, and an i730 which allows for much better web browsing.

With all this talk about Boost Mobile again (and iDEN/Nextel), maybe they’ll re-think about WiDEN to get even faster data speeds? Kinda doubting it though, but it’d definitely attract many more customers.

I’d definitely like to see the BB Curve on Boost as well as the i9 and since one of those phones is already comming to Boost, I can definitely see Boost going in a positive direction (that is, unless Sprint or Nextel shuts the MVNO down).

LOL everyone get ready, I’m sure there will be many more posts going up with “Is there any way to use my (BB Storm, iPhone, LG Voyager, etc.) with Boost’s Unlimited Plan?”

Motorola and Boost should really get together to think of a new super cool exclusive handset which will compete with some of those phones mentioned above.

What would be great is … “a keyboard” motorola phone wih PTT.. Come on Sprint/Nextel.. get with the times! you market to the younger gen.. that’s what we want!!!!

Sprint does not allow you to port your number over to boostmobile that is boost mobile is owned by sprint. Here is the solution port your number over to metropcs.com which is similar to boost mobile-$40 month unlimited calls, text, internet. That is great on its own. If you still want boostmobile transfer telephone/mobile cell phone number from metro pcs to boostmobile. In order to port number both account need to be active at the same time. metro will need your sprint nextel account number and password to port your number out of sprint.metropcs number is 1.888.863.8768

Hi there. I’m on a pre-paid (AT&T) phone right now but this Boost mobile sounds great. So is it just a straight up $50 a month with no hidden charges?

I know with AT&T pre-paid plan it cost me .10 a minute to talk to someone that didn’t have AT&T and if they did it was a dollar a day to activate, which wasn’t too bad but the only thing was that most of my friends and family wasn’t on AT&T so that sucked big time.

So my question is, can we talk to any carrier for that flat fee a month? :)

    Thanks for any help :)

Can I take my metro pcs number and transfer it to boost

  • Kimberly

I guess I really should have thought it out before I joined up with Sprint last year – I could have been saving more than $50 a month. Sprint’s unlimited plan on the same network is $99+taxes and more fees and its really hard to keep paying these days. I’ve heard a few friends say they want to take action and I’ve found a great way to get out the message that a $50 unlimited plan should be for all Sprint customers, not a gimmick for the new ones. Email the President of Sprint (http://sites.google.com/site/sprintcustomersunite/) as I intend to and let him know that savings for us man customers later.
