Everyone knows that the best thing about getting a hot new gadget isn’t the high you get when purchasing it, the joy of unboxing powering it on, or the the enjoyment it brings you over a period of time. It’s taking that expensive piece of equipment apart the first night with Red Bull-fueled precision. And that’s exactly what the same people that brought us the first iPhone 3G disassembly did. Through their latest ritualistic disassembly two interesting things were discovered. First, the new MacBook and MacBook Pro feature the same single-piece internal design, and second, removing the keyboard requires the removal of 56 screws. Yeah, that’s right. 56 screws.

    Wow! that is impressive.

    I’m not crazy about these new models. They’re larger, slightly heavier, and I don’t like the huge black bezel around the screen.

    My dislikes are superficial. but I love how powerful they are.

    I’m wondering how much RAM can be installed. With the new chipset and Mac OS X 10.6 lurking around the corner – I’m assuming 8GB. At least I hope.

    I think it’s only up to 4GB, but keep in mind these are 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM, not the old 667Mhz DDR2 SDRAM found on most PCs and regular laptops

    See, the Intel Centrino 2 was supposed to support 8GB. It would be odd if the nVidia chipset only supported 4GB. Not that 8GB in a laptop is completely necessary. The 4GB limit may just be Mac OS X 10.5.6′s limit and not a hardware limit.

    I have to look and see what I can dig up on the nVidia chipset. After of course I find out if I can cut a transom door into a 1986 41′ Viking sportfish without completely destroying its structural integrity.

    Pretty funky looking heatsink technology.

    Those speaker grill holes look incredibly small. I’d love to watch one of those cases manufactured, from start to finish.

    I just checked on the chipset. Max of 4GB. How pathetic.
