Niantic isn’t done releasing new features for its hit mobile game, and the company announced that iPhone and Android users who are still hooked on Pokemon Go have an easier time catching rare monsters in the future. No, Niantic isn’t about to fix the Pokemon tracking issue or release a new one, but at least it’s going to reward you for your daily grind.
DON’T MISS: Under no circumstances should you buy a Galaxy Note 7
“We want to give you a sneak peek of a feature coming soon to Pokémon GO,” Niantic wrote. “We are adding a new feature which grants a catch bonus when you earn medals based on catching certain types of Pokémon (Kindler, Psychic, Gardener, etc.). These new bonuses will give you a better chance of capturing Pokémon with a related type. For example, as you reach a higher tier for the Kindler Medal, your bonus to catch Fire-type Pokémon such as Charmander, Vulpix, and Ponyta increases.”
In other words, the more similar Pokemon you catch, the easier it’ll be to work your way to a new tier, and the better the chances are of scoring a rare Pokemon. If you’re one of the players who’s consistently putting in plenty of Pokemon hours, then you’ll certainly benefit from this update as long as you catch them all.
Niantic did not say exactly when the update will arrive, other than “coming soon,” and the company didn’t reveal any other exciting new features that might be included in the upcoming update.
