After weeks of waiting, Apple finally started taking orders for its truly wireless headphones a few days ago, and the AirPods are already sold out. You won’t be able to get a pair in time for Christmas unless you’re ready to pay a premium price over on eBay or other sites. But many buyers will get to use the headphones, and one of the problems they need to face is the possibility of actually losing or misplacing one of the two headphones. Fear not, there’s an official way to fix this potential problem.

It all started as a joke after Apple unveiled the product, but the problem may be very serious. Because the two headphones aren’t connected by a wire — you can do that if you wanted to, though — you may find yourself in a situation where one of the two headphones is lost, stolen, forgotten or damaged.

Luckily for you, Apple has a plan for that. The company confirmed on its support pages that it’ll cost you $69 to replace an AirPod headphone.

That’s not an unreasonable price, but it’s expensive enough so that it’s not worth pretending to lose AirPods one at a time just to score cheaper replacements. Two AirPod headphones will cost you $138, and they do not come with a case.

The company will charge you the same $69 if you lose an AirPods case, which is needed to recharge the headphones.

It looks like Conan got things right when it first made fun of Apple’s AirPods in an Apple ad parody:

Battery service for both the AirPods and the charging case will cost you $49 while under warranty, or $69 out of warranty.
