Only two smartphones have ever managed to score an 88 following DxOMark’s extensive testing. Depending on how you feel about DxOMark, that could certainly be construed as a big deal. The first phone to garner the impressive score was Samsung’s Galaxy S7 edge, which packs what is without question one of the most impressive smartphone cameras the world has ever seen. Then in April, the HTC 10 managed to earn the same score of 88 following the site’s customary battery of tests.

While both of these cameras are fantastic and they were each awarded the same score, they’re certainly not equals across the board. Each phone has its own strengths and weaknesses when it comes to mobile photography, and a recent video showdown does a great job of comparing these two flagship smartphones.

The video below was posted back in May but was sent in earlier this week by a reader. It was recorded by YouTube user “SuperSaf TV,” and it offers a very good comparison between the two cameras.

SuperSaf a long and thorough comparison of the phones, but the video itself is one of the best parts. He used a Galaxy S7 edge and an HTC 10 to record the entire thing simultaneously, so everything you’re looking at can be seen through both phones’ lenses at the same time. What’s more, the video constantly swaps back and forth between audio that was recorded by the HTC 10 and audio that was recorded by the S7 edge, so you’ll also get a great idea of exactly how sound quality compares on these two flagship Android phones.
