Microsoft ruffled a lot of features earlier this year when it unveiled the next-generation Xbox One and revealed several controversial new policies. It has since backtracked on all of the major pain points, however, and Xbox One sales are now projected by some to crush sales of Sony’s rival console, the PlayStation 4. While no one outside of Microsoft and its retail partners know any hard numbers for the time being, early signs have clearly been positive and now Microsoft’s Chief of Staff for Devices and Studios Group Aaron Greenberg stated on Twitter that Xbox One preorders from GameStop have been “through the roof.” Demand was so heavy according to Greenberg that GameStop had to stop taking preorders some time ago, though he suggested that preorder availability might return at some point in the future.
