Microsoft announced on Monday that the November system update had begun rolling out to members of the Xbox One update preview program. The November update is another set of relatively minor improvements and additions, but brings one highly anticipated feature to the console that was hinted at earlier this month: custom backgrounds.
According to the post on the Xbox Wire, the ability to customize the dashboard background was the most requested feature from Xbox One owners. Now every profile on your Xbox One will be able to have a unique background, consisting of either a custom color or achievement art from your favorite game. More options for backgrounds will be available in the future.
In addition to backgrounds, you’ll also be able to share your location and bio in your profile and include up to six showcase items (game clips and achievements) for your friends and online opponents to see.
Microsoft is doubling down on Twitter integration in November with TV Trending, a new feature that allows you to see which shows other OneGuide users are watching. Tweets will appear in real time in the MiniGuide as well as you’re watching, in case you have some burning desire to know what other people who are only half paying attention think about the Seinfeld rerun.
Finally, Microsoft has thrown in a few Store, SmartGlass and Internet Explorer upgrades to make each easier to navigate.
Preview members can download the update now. The rest of us will have to wait until early next month. Watch a video showcase of the November update below.
