We’ve seen from recent history that late nights, high alcohol consumption and Uber rides can be a deadly cocktail for your wallet. This is because intoxicated people who order an Uber late at night might not realize that they’re about to get hit with huge surge prices since they’re getting rides during peak hours. These surge prices figure to be even more brutal on New Year’s Eve when Uber will raise up their drivers’ rates to astronomical levels to give them an incentive to work instead of party and to help meet what will be a massive increase in demand.

With that in mind, it’s nice to see that Uber has posted a chart estimating exactly when prices will be at their highest on New Year’s Eve.

As you can see, Uber expects a high demand for rides early in the evening that will peak at around 9:00 p.m. as people are headed to parties. After that there’s a distinct dip in demand until around 11:15 p.m., when things start picking up again. Surge prices will be at their highest at around 1:30 a.m. when everyone is drunk, tired and wanting to get home.
