Tor is working on a messaging app that will take privacy to the next level

Tor Anonymous Instant Messenger

It’s very difficult to have a discussion about online anonymity without mentioning Tor. Tor is best known for its secure browser, which will allegedly protect your privacy as long as you avoid torrents, browser plugins and document downloads, but now the team wants to expand its services even further.

The latest project from Tor is an anonymous instant messenger which will use the open source Instantbird client as its base.

The Tor Instant Messaging Bundle (TIMB) was introduced at the 2014 Winter Dev Meeting, and it could become the standard in secure messaging once it goes public on March 31st. Once TIMB is up and running smoothly, it will come standard in the browser bundle.

Check out even more details about the project on the Tor wiki.
