Samsung’s marketing spending could hit $4.5 billion in Q4

The Samsung advertising juggernaut looks like it’s having its biggest year yet. Enders Analysis analyst Benedict Evans has posted a chart on his Twitter account showing that Samsung spent well over $3 billion in marketing in the second quarter of 2013 alone, nearly matching the record amount it spent on marketing in the fourth quarter of 2012. Given that Samsung’s marketing spending traditionally starts out slowly in the first quarter of the year and then rises in each subsequent quarter, Evans says that the current trend suggests Samsung could spend as much as $4.5 billion on marketing in Q4 2013, which means that a lot of people can expect Galaxy S4s and Galaxy Note 3s in their stockings for Christmas.
