Samsung is about to beat Apple to the punch by announcing its Galaxy Gear smartwatch far ahead of Apple’s expected iWatch unveiling next year — and it won’t be the first time Samsung beats Apple to an announcement. The South Korea-based electronics giant on Wednesday unveiled the Galaxy Golden, an Android flip phone that features two 3.7-inch AMOLED displays with WVGA resolution. According to SammyHub, other specs include a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera, LTE support, a 1,820 mAh battery and the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It also ships in a “champagne gold” color, which just so happens to be quite similar to what we’re expecting from Apple’s iPhone 5S when it is unveiled on September 10th. The Galaxy Golden will launch soon in South Korea but no plans were shared regarding a more widespread launch. Additional photos follow below.
