Remember when the folks at HTC made a special Android 2.2 upgrade patch for EVO 4G owners who had upgraded to a leaked build of Froyo found on the Internet? Yeah, Motorola isn’t doing that. Via their support forums, Motorola has stated:

WARNING: Do NOT load the leaked 2.2 upgrade that has been floating around on the Internets. There is currently no upgrade path from that load to the official 2.2 load that will be released by early September. Unless you have some plan to flash your phone back to the current official load, you could be stuck on the leaked version.

So, if you upgraded your handset early — and feel you need the official goodies when they become available in “early September”– it might be a good time to start researching how to flash your device back to the official Android 2.1 build that your DROID X shipped with. If you don’t care which version of 2.2 your DX is running– like we don’t — then good for you.
