LG’s first ever Android Wear device, the G Watch, launched less than three months ago, but The Korea Times is reporting that the company is already prepping a sequel for IFA 2014 next month. According to the report, the new smartwatch is tentatively being called the “G Watch 2,” although the name is subject to change before the wearable hits the market.

“LG Electronics was working on a September release for the new smartwatch alongside Google’s wearable platform,” one LG official told The Korea Times. “The IFA fair may be the venue to see the upgraded smartwatch.”

If you somehow haven’t heard, IFA is the annual electronics trade show in Berlin, Germany where many of the biggest smartphone vendors in the world reveal their lineups for the coming year. LG is already slated to reveal the supersized LG G3 Stylus, but now it appears as though the G Watch 2 will make an appearance as well.

The source believes that the upgraded smartwatch will feature an OLED screen supplied by the LG Display division of the company. On the other hand, LG will stick with a Qualcomm processor as the in-house Odin chips aren’t ready for primetime yet.

If the LG G Watch 2 does in fact launch in September, it could be in direct competition with the iWatch (or whatever Apple’s wearable device ends up being called) and the Moto 360. Smartwatch fans are going to have a lot to choose from this fall.
