The Light Phone pictured above is a phone I’d like to use on a daily basis. It’s got no touchscreen display, no texting apps, no games and no browser. It’s purpose is to solely help you reach the people in your life you want to connect with in the most basic way possible – by calling them. It’s also supposed to work with your existing smartphone, though.
DON’T MISS: An awesome hidden Apple Watch feature appears to be confirmed
Even though it’s just a “dumb phone,” the Light Phone appears to have taken Kickstarter by storm. The project is $10,000 short of reaching its $200,000 goal with 36 days to spare. A Light Phone costs you just $100 and will ship in May 2016, once the campaign is fully funded.
The Light Phone can be seen as an anti-smartphone device, although it’s actually made to work with your existing smartphone if you so desire. About as big as a credit card – it even fits in your wallet – the Light Phone will only let you make and receive calls, or have them forwarded from your existing iPhone or Android handset.
The device can last up to 20 days on a single battery charge and comes with a prepaid SIM card preloaded with minutes and an app to use with your current smartphone (this perk is available to U.S. buyers only though).
The following video offers you more details about this minimal handset.
