The single biggest mistake you can make when ordering an iPhone 6

iPhone 6 Where To Buy

If you’re ordering an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus online for the coming holiday season, you really shouldn’t order it through your wireless carrier, especially if that carrier is T-Mobile. Business Insider’s Steve Kovach learned this lesson the hard way when he ordered an iPhone 6 Plus through the “Un-carrier” and got a notice over the weekend informing him that the device might not ship until December 28th, or around two months after he placed his order.

“At this point, I’m probably better off canceling my order with T-Mobile and going straight to the Apple Store instead,” Kovach writes. “To T-Mobile’s credit, Apple simply can’t make enough iPhones, so carrier partners can’t get enough units to meet demand.”

Of course, there’s really no reason to even think of ordering a new iPhone from your carrier at this point, as Kovach acknowledges that Apple Stores get new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models every single day. It’s also the case that T-Mobile is one of Apple’s smaller carrier partners and thus probably has a more limited supply of new iPhones than rival carriers AT&T and Verizon do.

Basically, then, ordering your iPhone through your carrier at this stage in the game seems like a pretty bad idea and holiday iPhone shoppers would be wise not to follow Kovach’s example.
