Black Friday and Cyber Week offer a great deal of savings but they’re also a time of potential peril as retailers will come up with some ways to make you spend extra cash that you don’t need to spend. Consumer Reports has put out a list of five tips and tricks for holiday shoppers and they’re definitely all things that you should bookmark because they’ll be a big help this holiday shopping season.
The most important thing Consumer Reports mentions is to simply avoid extended warranties for expensive hardware that you buy. The reason for this is simple enough: The chances of your new gaming console, TV or computer breaking in the one or two years you sign up for your warranty are very slim. What’s more, Consumer Reports says that even if it does break in the one or two years of your warranty, the costs of repairing it are likely to be lower than the costs of the entire warranty.
Other tips from Consumer Reports include how to decide whether gift cards are a sound investment, what you should do when a retailer offers you a store credit card, and how to get the best prices for shipping your gifts. Check out the entire list at the source link below.
