Galaxy S5 Prime Launch

Samsung may have publicly denied Galaxy S5 Prime rumors, but evidence suggesting that the company is going forward with a better Galaxy S5 version keeps popping up online. After having been spotted in a GFXBench benchmark test not too long ago, the SM-G906 – believed to be the Galaxy S5 Prime version – was seen on Indian import site Zauba. According to the posted manifest, four SM-G906K units have been shipped from South Korea for “R&D purpose.” Many previous Galaxy-branded devices were spotted in similar shipping manifests before Samsung launched them.

It’s not clear when the Galaxy S5 Prime will be launched, and what commercial name it will have, but Samsung has been rumored for months to be working on a premium Galaxy S5 model that would have a high-resolution display and possibly a metal body.

While images showing the phone aren’t available yet, the earlier GFXBench sighting revealed the main hardware for the SM-G906S version of the handset. Specs include a 5.2-inch display with 2560 x 1440, 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, Adreno 420 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 16-megapixel camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S5 is already selling well in many countries, according to existing reports, with Samsung expected to sell as many as 35 million units in the first three months.

Here’s the best thing about the Galaxy S5 and the worst thing about it, and 10 hidden software features Galaxy S5 buyers may want to check out.
