Launch day for Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, has finally arrived. In order to ring in the new generation, Samsung has released another television commercial on its YouTube channel, highlighting a few features of the S5. First we’re given a demonstration of the 16-megapixel camera, a major leap over its predecessor with the ability to record 4K video and auto focus about as quickly as you can get your phone pointed in the right direction.
The Galaxy S5 is also equipped with what Samsung is calling Download Booster that allows users to download apps and videos faster than ever by tapping into both Wi-Fi and cellular networks. Unfortunately, this feature appears to be disabled for most U.S. carriers, so unless you’re a T-Mobile customer, you’ll have to resort to downloading at standard speeds.
And of course there’s the water resistance. Samsung has been hyping the Galaxy S5’s IP67 certification for months, hoping to attract a more adventurous breed of smartphone buyers to its new flagship device. Whether someone splashes your phone or you forget to check your pockets before jumping in the pool, the S5 will almost assuredly survive. Watch the full commercial below.
