After appearing in a variety of leaks, Samsung’s smartphone that could potentially lure 4.7-inch iPhone 6 buyers away has been spotted in FCC documentation, which means the handset is one step closer to launch. According to the FCC documents discovered by Phone Arena, the Galaxy Alpha is significantly smaller than the Galaxy S5, measuring 133 millimeters by 67 millimeters, compared to the Galaxy S5’s 142 millimeters by 72.2 millimeters.

Recent reports revealed the handset will be quite slim as well, and may match the iPhone 6’s rumored thickness.
The phone is expected to pack a 4.7-inch 720p display, octa-core Exynos processor, 2GB of RAM, 12-megapixel camera, and Android 4.4 KitKat. Unlike other Galaxy flagship devices, the Galaxy Alpha will be made of a mix of plastic and metal, although the latter material will only be present on the sides of the phone.
While the FCC documentation doesn’t confirmed any of the Galaxy Alpha’s rumored specs, it does reveal the handset will offer Bluetooth 4.0 LE support, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi and LTE support.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Alpha on August 13, and start selling it in the following weeks. At least two U.S.-bound Galaxy Alpha models have been spotted in user agent profiles on Samsung’s site, the AT&T and T-Mobile versions, although Samsung is yet to announce what U.S. carriers will have the handset in stock, or how much it’ll cost.
The model seen at the FCC is likely the international version of the Galaxy Alpha (model number SM-G850F).
