The big yellow box electronics retailer is in the midst of being sued by the State of Connecticut. Say wha? Here’s the rundown: Best Buy has an in-store intranet which mimics, and appears to be BestBuy.com, except there is one small problem — the prices are higher than their print ads and external web pages! According to the Attorney General of Connecticut, the practice is immoral, deceptive, and according to CT law, illegal. We’re with ‘ya there bud! The state is alleging that Best Buy has engaged in “deceptive business practices”, specifically intended to cheat and confuse their customers. Obviously Best Buy is denying the accusations, yet admits a “small percentage” of in store computer kiosks malfunctioned, leading to customers being quoted inflated prices which were incorrect, secretly. You be the judge.
