With the Apple Watch set to hit store shelves this April, Apple’s U.S.-based advertising push is about to kick into high gear. Now, seeing as how the Apple Watch is as much about personal fashion and health as it is about consumer technology, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Apple has tapped supermodel (and former Victoria’s Secret Angel) Candice Swanepoel to wear the highly anticipated device on the March cover of SELF magazine.

SELF announced the news late on Wednesday evening:

Aside from the I-want-to-be-Candice quality of our new March cover, notice anything else about the photo? The Apple Watch is getting a star moment, too, as Candice is the first woman to wear one on a magazine cover in the US.

Aside from all the overall productivity the device offers, we’re zeroing in on the health aspects: Using an accelerometer, a built-in heart rate sensor, GPS and WiFi from your iPhone to provide a comprehensive picture of your daily activity; consequently, measures three separate aspects of movement: calories burned, brisk activity and how often you stand up during the day.

Considering Swanepoel’s athletic prowess, it was an ideal accessory for her sporty cover shoot.

Here’s what the cover will look like.

Naturally, the watch Swanepoel is wearing in the photo is the Apple Watch Sport edition, a device which will retail for $349 at launch. While the pricing matrix for the other two Apple Watch models remains subject to speculation, a recent rumor suggests that the gold plated Apple Watch Edition may run as high as $4000.

As a final point, note that this isn’t the first time Apple has opted to feature the highly anticipated Apple Watch in a magazine. This past November, model Liu Wen appeared on the cover of Vogue China wearing an Apple Watch.
