Amazon (AMZN) on Thursday updated its Instant Video streaming application to support both the iPhone and iPod touch. The app, which grants Amazon Prime members the ability to stream or download movies and TV episodes from their video library directly onto their devices, was previously only available for the iPad. Amazon Prime is available for $79 per year and offers customers free two-day shipping and access to more than 30,000 instantly accessible movies and TV episodes.

“Our customers tell us they want the convenience of being able to watch all of their movies and TV episodes, wherever they are,” said Anthony Bay, Amazon’s vice president of video. “Today we’re excited to extend our ‘buy once, enjoy everywhere’ approach to iPhone and iPod touch users, giving customers the chance to enjoy more than 140,000 titles from Amazon Instant Video and more than 30,000 titles from Prime Instant Video anytime, anywhere.”

The Amazon Instant Video app is available now in Apple’s App Store, however it still does not support AirPlay streaming to Apple TV boxes.
