5.5-inch iPhone 6 Release Date

Apple is expected to announce its new iPhone 6 models on September 9th during a special media event that’s yet to be confirmed, and that could also bring the introduction of the company’s first smartwatch. But a new report from China says that only one iPhone 6 model will make it to the show.

FROM EARLIER: Key details about the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 confirmed in major new leak has learned that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 version will not be unveiled at the event, and instead Apple will only launch the 4.7-inch smartphone and an 8GB version of the 16GB iPhone 5s.

The 5.5-inch iPhone 6’s announcement will be delayed according to the publication’s sources, to a date that’s yet to be confirmed. Previous reports did say that Apple’s first phablet would not be available in stores at the same time the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 launches, either due to production delays or because Apple wants to space them out in order for each device to enjoy its own time in the spotlight.

Sources as Foxconn have supposedly further revealed that Apple’s supplier has started a small 5.5-inch iPhone 6 production run. Previous reports claimed that the bigger iPhone 6 will be mass-produced beginning at some point in September.

Apple is expected to sell a record number of iPhone 6 handsets this year, having reportedly ordered as many as 80 million combined new iPhones for 2014 alone.
