Nintendo hasn’t been shy about showing off footage from the early stages of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but last night during The Game Awards 2016, we got our first look at a random quest that seemed to be from later in the game.

As was previously announced, Nintendo appeared at The Game Awards on Thursday night (via pre-recorded video) to show off new footage from Breath of the Wild on Wii U. In the video, we see Link (in some fancy red armor) accept a quest from a mysterious character we’ve never seen before named Kass:
Kass doesn’t actually tell Link where to find the shrine, but instead gives him hints about where it might be based on landmarks in the area. So once Link accepts the quest, he has to find the head of a stone serpent and travel in the direction that its head is facing. For those of you who prefer exploration to following waypoints on a minimap, it looks like the new Zelda might be a perfect match.
On the way to the shrine, we see Link battle with ranged and melee weapons, pick up weapons from enemies he’s felled, eat food to restore his health and even fail his quest after being struck by a shock arrow, resulting in a game over screen.
But eventually, Link makes it to the shrine, wards off two camouflaged lizard warriors and beats the intimidating miniboss. Unfortunately, Nintendo wouldn’t let us see what Link’s reward was for completing the quest.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild hits Wii U and Switch in 2017.
