According to a new report, Nintendo will host the first ever hands-on event for its upcoming Switch hybrid console on January 13th in New York City.
Last month, Nintendo announced that it would host a live-streamed presentation about the Switch in Japan on the evening of January 12th. During the event, the company plans to unveil the price, release date and launch lineup of the Switch. Then, as reported by Polygon, members of the press will get their hands on the device for the very first time in New York City hours later.

The event has not been publicly announced by Nintendo as of yet, and there’s no telling if it ever will be. Polygon claims that the company has yet to even specify a location for the event other than the city in which it will be held.
As for what attendees can expect, the company says that the NYC event “will further emphasize some of the details that Nintendo plans to announce.” We’re hopeful that the emphasis comes in the form of price points for launch bundles and demos of games that will be available at launch / during the launch window.
Both the Japan presentation and the NYC hands-on event are less than a month and a half away, but at the rate that leaks about the Switch have been pouring out, there’s no telling how many secrets will be left by January 13th.
Nintendo’s Switch is currently scheduled to launch in March 2017.
