Awards season isn’t really a season these days, since there are dozens upon dozens of awards shows spread throughout the year. But despite the fact that there are so many awards shows these days that we’ve grown completely numb to the very concept of celebrating actors’ achievements, there are still a few events that rise above the rest after all these years. One such event took place on Sunday night, when the 74th annual Golden Globe awards took place.
There were definitely a few big surprises at this year’s Golden Globe awards, and we also so an interesting narrative continue to unfold. Netflix and Amazon, which continue to be disruptive presences in the entertainment industry, combined to score 17 Golden Globe nominations. Just five years ago, neither Netflix nor Amazon had a single nomination.
