Ben Affleck isn’t done playing the Caped Crusader in Warner Bros’ DC Comics saga. The actor already appeared in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and will also star in two Justice League movies in the coming years. But the studio just confirmed that not only is a standalone Batman is in the works with Affleck as the famous bat, but the popular actor will also direct the movie.

Initially announced on Tuesday at CinemaCon, Affleck’s Batman movie has been confirmed in an official press release later, Variety reports.
Warner Bros chief Kevin Tsujihara said the studio committed to 10 DC Comics films over the next five years, with most of them having already been announced. The studio’s head then named every movie and its director, mentioning Batman and Affleck in the process.
It’s not clear at this time when the new standalone Batman movie will be released, but it’s all part of the massive DC Comics universe that Warner Bros is currently developing. A massive success at the box office, Batman v. Superman wasn’t the critics’ favorite, so we can’t wait to see if a standalone Batman movie under Affleck’s directorial oversight will fare any better.
The actor might also be involved in the movie’s story, with a recent report saying Affleck has penned a script for a Batman movie.
A second DC Comics movie is set to premiere in early August, where the Caped Crusader might also show up. Featuring an impressive cast of villains, Suicide Squad will also have traces of Batman in it, according to the latest trailer.
