6 months later, Samsung’s Galaxy S7 edge is still the best Android phone of the year

Published Sep 19th, 2016 3:15PM EDT

There is a distinct possibility that when all is said and done in 2016, Samsung’s Galaxy S7 edge will be the hottest smartphone that was released all year. That’s pretty crazy when you stop to consider the fact that the phone was first released all the way back in March of this year; as fast as technology progresses these days, the best phone of 2016 may end up having been unveiled in the second month of 2016 and released in the third month of the year. The Note 7 might have stolen the S7 edge’s crown, but ExplosiveBallOfFireGate squashed any chances it might would have had, for the time being at least.

If you’re in the market for an unlocked flagship smartphone, there simply isn’t a better option on the market right now. And the good news is that you won’t have to pay anything close to the MSRP.

First, some key details:

  • International Version- Product may not have US Warranty
  • Fast battery charging: 60% in 30 min (Quick Charge 2.0); Wireless charging (Qi/PMA) ; market dependent; ANT+ support; S; Voice natural language commands and dictation; OneDrive (115 GB cloud storage); Active noise cancellation with dedicated mic; MP4/DivX/XviD/WMV/H.264 player; MP3/WAV/WMA/eAAC+/FLAC player; Photo/video editor; Document editor.
  • Corning Gorilla Glass back panel; Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors; 5.5 inches (~76.1% screen-to-body ratio)
  • Dual-core 2.15 GHz Kryo & dual-core 1.6 GHz Kryo; Quad-core 2.3 GHz Mongoose + quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A53
  • Unlocked cell phones are compatible with GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile as well as with GSM SIM cards (e.g. H20, Straight Talk, and select prepaid carriers). Unlocked cell phones will not work with CDMA Carriers like Sprint, Verizon, Boost or Virgin.

This  model is compatible with both AT&T and T-Mobile’s LTE networks, and it’s much less expensive on Amazon than any comparable iPhone. The US version starts at $770 and if you go with the international version, which works on both AT&T and T-Mobile, you can snag one for just $609!
