If you’re looking for video game announcements, you have come to the right place. A weekend once dominated by E3 (RIP) has been usurped by Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, which is the first of many live showcases that will air this weekend from some of the biggest names in gaming. But it all starts with the Summer Game Fest livestream on Friday.
How to watch Summer Game Fest 2024
The Summer Game Fest live showcase begins at 2:00 p.m. PT / 5:00 p.m. ET this Friday, June 7th. You can watch it live via the YouTube video embedded above in 4K60, as well as on Twitch, TikTok, Steam, and X (formerly Twitter).
If you’re looking to get rewarded for watching, your best bet is to tune in on Twitch. Drops will be enabled, which means you could win digital goodies just by streaming the event. For example, if you play Warframe, be sure to link your account and watch for at least 30 consecutive minutes to unlock the Ember Warframe for your arsenal.
That said, there will also be a TikTok reward of some nature if you watch along there.
What to expect
The two-hour showcase will feature updates from many of the world’s biggest game developers and publishers, including PlayStation, Xbox, 2K, Bandai Namco, Capcom, Riot Games, Nexon, EA, Epic Games, Sega, Steam, Meta, and Ubisoft.
SGF host Geoff Keighley revealed in a recent Q&A that Monster Hunter Wilds, Kingdom Come 2: Deliverance, and Metaphor: ReFantazio will be shown off at the showcase today. There have also been hints and leaks from other developers throughout the week, including something from the Skate team and a Civilization 7 banner on 2K’s website.
What not to expect
In order to temper expectations for an avalanche of triple-A game reveals, Keighley noted in a Q&A that SGF 2024 is “largely focused on announced stuff.” He clarified that there will be world premieres at the event but added that “this is not a show that has a lot of like ‘coming in 2026’ or ‘2027’, or teasers for games that are years and years out.”
More specifically, he confirmed that we should not expect news about Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Kingdom Hearts 4, The Wolf Among Us 2, Ken Levine’s new sci-fi shooter Judas, or anything related to the Five Nights At Freddy’s franchise.
