Move over MWC 2017, you’re done. The Galaxy S8 cast a long shadow over this year’s mobile trade show in Barcelona, Spain, as Samsung was unable to unveil its hottest new phone at the event. The company confirmed, however, that the phone will arrive in the very near future, offering us a March 29th date for its New York-based Unpacked event.
A flurry of competing Android devices became official at MWC, many of them hoping to cash in on the Galaxy S8’s big absence. But Galaxy S8 rumors continued to drop just as other companies were unveiling their newest mobile products. The best leak came late on Tuesday when a trusted leaker shared with the world what seems to be our first look at the phone’s press render.
Evan Blass finally posted the one image we have been waiting for, the press photo that shows the Galaxy S8 in all its glory.

The image features a phone that has small top and bottom bezels, no physical home button, curved edges, and a new button on the left side, right under the volume rockers. That’s likely the dedicated virtual assistant button that will invoke Samsung’s Bixby assistant.
The lock screen features a March 29th date that coincides with the phone’s official announcement and virtual buttons near the bottom edge for calls and camera.
In other words, the phone in Blass’ latest leak looks exactly what we expect, after having seen so many Galaxy S8 leaks. An image showing the rear of the phone isn’t available, but we probably know what’s there: A single-lens camera flanked by a heart rate sensor and a fingerprint sensor.
It’s likely that Samsung won’t surprise us with any new revelations regarding the Galaxy S8, but that’s surely not a bad thing. At this point, the Galaxy S8 can’t come soon enough.
