We already know everything we need to know about GameStop’s plans for the launch of the Nintendo Switch this Friday. We learned on Monday how Best Buy and Target are going to handle the launch. Now Walmart has confirmed Switch availability as well, giving you four retailers to choose from this Friday.
On Tuesday, BGR learned that Walmart Supercenters across the country will begin selling Nintendo Switch consoles at 12:01 a.m. local time on March 3rd. If your closest Walmart doesn’t stay open for 24 hours, you should call ahead and see when the store plans to begin selling its allotment of systems on Friday.
According to the email we received, Walmart stores will have both the grey and the red/blue systems in stock for launch. As with every other retailer, Walmart will sell the Switch for $299.
If you’re willing to trek out on Thursday night to line up for a Nintendo Switch, you should be able to snag on at midnight (depending on where you live, of course). The Switch will undoubtedly be difficult to come by for the first several days and possibly weeks, but Nintendo has ensured consumers that it will be producing systems to meet demand as quickly as it can throughout the first part of the year.
We’ll have more coverage of the Switch and some of the launch games leading up to Friday’s launch. Our full review (pending the activation of online services) will go up on the morning of March 1st.
